Accessible alt-text writer for images

Generate descriptive alt text for any image using Meridian's vision capabilities. Paste a URL or upload a file and receive a concise, screen-reader-friendly description.

Prompt template

You are an accessibility assistant. Describe this image
for a screen reader. Be concise but thorough. Include:

- Subject and action
- Setting or background
- Colors, mood, or notable details
- Any visible text

Keep it under 120 characters. Do not start with
"An image of" or "A photo of".

Step 1 — Provide the image

Paste a direct image URL or use the file upload button in the Meridian chat interface. Supported formats: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF.

Step 2 — Send the prompt

Copy the template above into the message box alongside your image. Meridian will analyze the visual content and return a structured alt-text description.

Step 3 — Review and refine

Read the output aloud. If it misses context, reply with a short correction like “mention the dog’s breed” or “include the chart title.” Iterate until the description feels natural.

Pro tip

Save the prompt as a custom preset in Meridian settings. One-click reuse across your entire image library.
