Recipe: PDF Translate

Translate any PDF document while preserving its original layout and formatting — powered by Meridian's document intelligence pipeline.

Overview

This recipe walks through uploading a PDF, selecting a target language, and receiving a translated PDF that mirrors the original's structure. Meridian handles font embedding, text reflow, and right-to-left script support automatically.

Prerequisites

  • Meridian account with an active subscription
  • PDF under 50 MB and 200 pages
  • Source language auto-detected or specified manually

Steps

  1. Upload the PDF — drag and drop your file onto the dashboard or use the file picker.
  2. Choose target language — select from 40+ supported languages in the dropdown.
  3. Configure options — toggle “Preserve images” or “Form field translation” as needed.
  4. Run translation — click “Translate” and monitor progress in the job queue.
  5. Download result — once complete, download the translated PDF or share via a temporary link.

Notes

Scanned PDFs require OCR preprocessing. Enable “OCR first” in advanced options. Translation quality depends on source clarity — crisp digital-born PDFs yield the best results.
