Recipe: UI microcopy writer

Generate crisp, on-brand microcopy for buttons, empty states, error messages, and tooltips using Meridian's structured prompt chain.

Ingredients

  • Context block — product name, audience, tone spec
  • Surface catalog — list of UI surfaces needing copy
  • Constraint set — char limits, reading level, forbidden terms
  • Examples (3–5) — gold-standard microcopy pairs

Method

  1. 1Paste the context block and surface catalog into a new Meridian thread.
  2. 2Attach the constraint set and examples as pinned context.
  3. 3Prompt: “Generate microcopy for each surface. Output as a table: surface name, variant A, variant B, rationale.”
  4. 4Review output. Flag any variant exceeding char limits. Request rewrites inline.
  5. 5Export final table to CSV. Hand off to engineering.

Pro tip

Include one “anti-example” per surface — copy that is too verbose, jargon-heavy, or off-tone. Meridian uses contrastive examples to tighten output quality significantly.
